Chelsea top WSL after West Ham win; City thrash Spurs

Chelsea needed patience to break down West Ham at Victoria Road. Summer signing Melvine Malard, arriving from Manchester United, opened the scoring eight minutes before half-time with a composed finish. The hosts continued to frustrate Sonia Bompastor's side after the restart, but Keira Walsh—the England midfielder—sealed victory with just ten minutes remaining, her third goal of the season. Maika Hamano added a third at the far post deep into injury time, cementing Chelsea's unbeaten record.

London City Lionesses left no doubt about their title credentials, dismantling an in-form Spurs outfit with ruthless efficiency. Alexia Putellas struck twice, opening the scoring after just three minutes and adding a second from a corner. Kadidiatou Diani contributed two goals in an emphatic display of attacking football, with Lucia Corrales and Delphine Cascarino also finding the net. Spurs, unbeaten before kickoff, had no answer to the Lionesses' intensity and precision.

Elsewhere, Ruby Mace responded to her England omission by scoring twice in Everton's 2-1 comeback win over Birmingham City. Mace fired Everton ahead early on, though Oceane Hurtre—in prolific form—levelled for Birmingham. Mace's second, a long-range effort that took a double deflection, proved decisive for Everton, according to Sky Sports.
