How betting odds work

Betting odds explained simply: the price a bookmaker sets is a probability in disguise. Decimal odds of 2.00 imply a 50% chance and double your stake; 1.50 implies roughly 67%. Read the odds as the bookmaker’s estimate of how likely something is, then judge whether the real chance — backed by stats — is higher. That gap is where value lives.

What is BTTS betting?

BTTS betting — short for "both teams to score" — is one of football’s most popular markets. A BTTS Yes bet wins when both sides find the net; BTTS No wins if either keeps a clean sheet. Because it ignores who wins, BTTS explained in one line is a bet on goals being shared, not on the result. The edge comes from each team’s BTTS percentage — how often their matches finish with both teams scoring — split home and away. Free-scoring but leaky sides push the BTTS Yes rate up; disciplined defences drag it down. We publish that percentage for every team and league, so you can spot BTTS opportunities before the bookmaker’s price catches up.

Over/Under betting explained

Over/Under betting is the simplest of the goal betting markets: the bookmaker sets a line — most often 2.5 goals — and you back the match to finish Over or Under it. Over 2.5 needs three or more total goals; Under 2.5 wins with two or fewer, and the half-goal line means there is never a tie. Because over under betting depends only on total goals — not the winner — it rewards research into how many goals a team’s matches actually produce. Two high-scoring attacks meeting points to Over; two cagey, defensive sides point to Under. Our per-team goal totals rank every side home and away across the common lines (1.5, 2.5, 3.5), so you can match the right line to the fixture instead of guessing.

How xG betting works

Expected goals (xG) measures the quality of the chances a team creates and concedes, not just the final score. Every shot is scored between 0 and 1 by how likely it was to go in — a tap-in might be 0.7, a long-range effort 0.03 — and adding them up gives a match’s expected goals. xG betting works because the scoreline lies more often than you would think: a team can win 1–0 while being outplayed, or lose despite creating the better chances. xG explained over a run of games separates sides who are genuinely creating from those riding luck. Used as an xG predictor, it flags teams whose results are about to regress — the sharpest angle in the goals markets, because shot quality and chance creation lead the scoreboard.

Why betting statistics matter

Betting statistics turn a hunch into a decision. Bookmakers price thousands of matches a week and cannot perfectly weight every team’s patterns — which is exactly where sports betting data gives you a statistical edge. The key is context. A team’s overall record hides a lot: many sides are dominant at home and timid away, and some travel far better than their league position suggests. That is why every statistic on this site — BTTS, Over/Under, corners, cards and clean sheets — is split home and away, drawn from historical statistics across full seasons rather than a noisy handful of games. Read the team patterns in the right context and you stop betting on reputation and start betting on evidence.
