Man Utd Chase Villa's Tielemans: A Shaky Rebuild?

The Belgian's racked up 134 appearances for Villa since his 2023 free transfer from Leicester City. He’s bagged 10 goals in that time. Not bad. Tielemans, you see, was no bit-part player under Unai Emery. Last season, he even scored in their Europa League final win against Freiburg. Helped drag Villa into successive Champions League campaigns too. Say what you will, the man delivers.

Another day, another midfield 'reshaping' at United. They've already coughed up £50m for Chelsea's Andrey Santos, Sky Sports confirms. Meanwhile, the chase for Atalanta's Ederson? Dead in the water. United had even agreed a £38m fee for the Brazilian. Funny how quickly things sour, isn't it? So, the Tielemans move looks like Plan B, or C, or whatever letter they're on now.

Tielemans certainly brings a European touch. He’s seen a few cup runs, too. FA Cup winner at Leicester. Community Shield, same club. He moved to Villa, kept going. At 27, he's hardly an old man. He's supposed to add 'midfield depth' to Erik ten Hag's squad. Because, obviously, United's summer 'rebuild' desperately needs another body. Or perhaps, just a body that will actually sign on the dotted line this time.
