The 38-year-old takes the reins after Howe's departure, arriving at St James' Park with a proven record in both Europe and the Middle East. Jaissle spent three seasons at Al Ahli, where he delivered consecutive Asian Champions League titles before moving to the Premier League.

His credentials include two Austrian Bundesliga titles and a domestic cup won during a spell at Red Bull Salzburg, where he also guided the club to the Champions League knockout stages for the first time. At Salzburg, Jaissle worked with now high-profile talents including Karim Adeyemi and Benjamin Sesko, building sides known for intensity and player development.

Newcastle's hierarchy described the German as the outstanding choice after a thorough recruitment process. CEO David Hopkinson highlighted Jaissle's leadership and "relentless drive to improve" as key factors, according to the club statement.

Jaissle has already linked up with the squad and will take charge of his first fixture this Saturday—a pre-season friendly at Valencia. He began his coaching career in Denmark before joining Red Bull's academy structure, eventually becoming Salzburg manager in summer 2021, where he won the double in his opening campaign.

Betting angle

Jaissle's strong recent record and immediate availability appeal to those backing Newcastle to challenge the top six this season, though pre-season results rarely predict league form.
